Good morning,

My apologies for this non-DP related post, however I am attempting to use the 'Search' feature of this forum yet always receive the 'There are no results for your query.' page.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? I am searching for threads related to the ES6, yet entering the keyword 'ES6' strangely delivers no results.

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Kind regards,
James

Hi!
When you make a search check the Date Range Option. Maybe that it's the problem of your results.
Bye! Grettings from Chile

I recall having the same trouble with keywords that were similarly short and contained numbers. I'm not aware that the limitations on the length and/or makeup of the word being searched on have ever been clarified.

Minimum 3 letters/numbers

Advanced search lets you set parameters, which as Whitedog mentioned, should include a date range.

It's also preferable to limit your search to one or two forums at a time.
With over a million posts, large searches slow down the entire board.

Go to Advanced Search and set the date range. The default is 1 week.

I have a much better success rate using Google for this: put your search terms and 'pianoworld' into it and things generally pop up!

Thank you for the prompt replies and useful suggestions folks.

I have attempted to enter different parameters into both the 'Newer than' and 'Older than' fields, yet am still unable to retrieve any posts.

May I ask if the search function can be improved in any way? For example, there is currently a topic towards the top of the first page entitled 'Yamaha Clavinova CLP 320', however clicking search and simply entering 'CLP 320' strangely results in no matches - surely there is a problem here?

Kind regards,
James

Yamaha Clavinova CLP 320

Using the advanced search, I get 300 results.
If I limit it to the Digital forums, I get 146

Frank, what happens if you enter just 'CLP 320' (without the quotation marks)? In my opinion, the additional 'Yamaha' and 'Clavinova' keywords should not be necessary.

I expect I am using the Advanced Search forum incorrectly.
For example, if I enter 'CLP 320', highlight just the Digital Piano forum, then set the range to 'Newer than 1 year' (which I am assuming should retrieve all threads posted within the past year), clicking 'Submit' results in no matches.

For reference, here is how the search forum appears before I click 'Submit':

Kind regards,
James

Interestingly, searching for 'CLP320' (no space) gives a lot of results. Searches for 'CLP 320' (with space), '+CLP +320' and 'CLP' all give zero results.

'CLP' should give a ton of results. If the minimum length is supposed to be 3 characters, I don't think it's working properly...my guess would be that the search function just discards words that have 3 or less characters.

In general though, searching for '+term1 +term2 +term3' works better than 'term1 term2 term3'. I think that internally, 'term1 term2 term3' is being handled as one phrase, rather than a set of three terms. Whether that's a feature or a bug, I dunno.
